About Us

To our New Clents and our Forever LOYAL Clients, we strive for a clean, friendly, comfortable atmosphere in the salon. We are aficionados of all canvases of hair. We have creative minds and souls that make for a healthy working relationship. We have worked together at other salons since 1982 and have become the best of friends. We love having fun at work and making everyone feel their best when they leave. We also contribute to local charities and events.

Dean Smith

Dean Smith - Hair Stylist at Hair Grafix Salon Dean Smith - Hair Stylist

When I was a little girl, my mother would take my sister and me to the beauty salon every Saturday. At that early age, I didn't understand how important it was for Mama to have her hair styled. I would have preferred to watch my favorite cartoons, but Mama had to have her beehive hairdo. Mama would also put those pink sponge rollers in my hair before every special event or holiday. Man, they sure hurt to sleep on! When I was in my teens, I went to a salon to have my hair cut. I tried to explain what I wanted, but the stylist cut my bangs too short and they stuck straight out from my forehead! I left in tears.

As I grew older I realized the importance of putting ones best look forward. As I began thinking about a career, I knew I would like to help people. Physical therapy was one consideration. Then the light bulb came on: cosmetology school. I knew I could help people get better hair services and better haircuts! With proper training, good listening, and commitment I knew I could help others, I got my degree at Daytona State College in 1981. I have worked with Redken Products throughout my career and the company has contributed to my education. In 1999 I attended Redken specialist program four weekends in St. Augustine Fl. In 2001 I trained in New York at Redken’s 5th Avenue school for hair color/with cutting. In 2001, I was training to become a Redken Educator for eight weekends in Clearwater, Fl and later attended national training in Nashville with Redken Global Artists. I passed that training course and became an Educator along with working behind the chair. In 2002, I participated in a Redken Symposium, teaching 500 students. My services have been used to prepare models for the Symposium hair show in Orlando. I am honored and blessed to have enjoyed the guidance of excellent professionals. Eventually, traveling took too much time from my first concern; my clients. I resigned from teaching. After working with Redken products for many years, I can honestly say it is a great company and has provided me with an awesome professional education. In 2006 my friend Sharon and I designed Hair Grafix salon to provide a most relaxing and fun experience for you. We are also up with OSHSA standards for a safe and clean environment. My best friend Ruth joined a few years ago. We have worked together in other salons since 1982 and are very active in learning new techniques to keep ourselves updated with all new things related to hair.

Thank you to all of my loyal clients. When you look into the mirror and smile, I also smile because I know you are pleased. I am in the salon Tuesday through Saturday. Check out all the hair services I have to offer. I always welcome new clients.

My mother used to joke, that my journey as a stylist began at the age of 5, when I gave my brother a haircut, in her hair salon. I grew up in NY, where I received my cosmetology training. Through the years, doing hair has been my love. I have been a stylist in the Daytona Beach area for 40 years. The clients I work with are what make this business such a pleasure. Over the years, I have enjoyed having a long-term relationship with them. I enjoy having clients from all age groups.

I have been an independent contractor at Hair Grafix for 7 ½ years now.

I proudly offer services including, haircuts, permanent waves, highlights, color, up-styles and facial waxing. I also enjoy doing weddings. I have participated in educational classes in Orlando, FL and Las Vegas with Global Redken Artists.

I believe we should be responsible for our environment and strive to practice as much green as possible at home and at work. Since finding that ammonia based products aggravate my asthma, I started the search for products that would create a healthier environment for my clients and myself. I found that in Organic Colors, all are non-ammonia based colors.

I am accepting new clients and would love for you to call me for an appointment. My schedule is flexible, but my normal business hours are Wednesday through Saturday. I look forward to becoming friends with you.
